Lead, Investor Engagement 
Full Time  - 19 Month contract until March 31, 2026
Salary starting at $75,000 year

Reporting to the Director of Growth, and collaborating closely with the Program Manager, Investor Hub, the Lead, Investor Engagement will spearhead outreach efforts for Platform Calgary’s National Bank Investor Hub. The role is pivotal in establishing a reliable, accessible community resource and a centralized, highly visible entry point connecting investors, funds, and entrepreneurs in the early-stage tech sector.

What will you do?

  • Develop strategies to enhance the visibility and reputation of Platform Calgary and the Investor Hub within the Investor and Founder community
  • Leading the work to ensure the deliverables and metrics of the National Bank Investor Hub are achieved on time and on budget
  • Lead the regular reporting process for the National Bank Investor Hub funding partners 
  • Recruit and cultivate relationships with local and international investors to accelerate access to early-stage capital for startups 
  • Pull insights to support programming at Platform Calgary and give context to founders fundraising journey
  • Shorten timelines for startups when looking to engage with the investment community through proactive engagement and relationship-building efforts
  • Recruit and cultivate relationships with emerging funds, with an emphasis on emerging funds that have an investment thesis focused on early-stage companies led by underserved founders and/or with a mission focused on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility (DEIA)
  • Lead the development of a playbook which outlines:
  • how investors, microfunds and the broader ecosystem can better support underserved startups and why this support is important;
  • the important role of microfunds in the local startup ecosystem, how relationships, and which relationships can be leveraged to achieve desired outcomes; and
  • how to set up, operate, and grow local microfunds, including specific steps to develop an investment strategy and operate a successful fund;
  • Represent Platform Calgary and the Investor Hub in investor meetings and calls.
  • Facilitate introductions between investors, founders and Platform’s extended venture network.
  • Promote Platform Calgary's mission and initiatives within the community and broader networks.
  • Establish and nurture a robust pipeline of prospective investors across various sectors, sizes and geographies.
  • Provide investor referrals and attend conferences and events to expand the network and promote the offerings within the Investor Hub.
  • Create and execute strategies to enhance investor engagement and launch a membership model for the launch.
  • Advise and support impactful programmatic initiatives such as reverse pitches, office hours, and networking events.
  • Collaborate with Platform Calgary's Investor Advisory Group to leverage expertise and insights.
  • Foster relationships and gather feedback to enhance investor engagement strategies.

The right candidate will demonstrate the following qualifications:
  • At least 3+ years of experience in fundraising or investor relations
  • Ability to demonstrate a breadth and depth of relationships in the investment community
  • Comfortable presenting and engaging with a wide range of high net worth individuals, family offices, & foundations, partners, & the broader impact community
  • Investment experience and/or practical understanding of the early stage investing industry
  • Familiar with venture capital as a subset of the private equity asset class and how it relates to portfolio construction within family offices and VCs 
  • Experience in business development, community building & engagement
  • Project management experience is considered an asset
  • Discretion & confidentiality
  • Proficiency in GSuite, CRM (Hubspot) and workflow tools such as Asana 
  • Positive, enthusiastic attitude to join a fast moving, often deadline-driven team
